Other things to consider and do in regards to Convergence are: Sign up for
the Convergence Value Package—you do not want to miss the Vendors market or the
Fashion Show as well as the HGA exhibits. Sign up for one or more seminars,
classes and/or workshops. Sign up to be a volunteer—you can go online and sign
up with HGA but also consider that several Las Arañas members are helping with
Convergence and will need volunteer help during the conference. So reserve the
week of July 18-25 on your calendar to help with Convergence.

What is Convergence? Convergence is an outstanding conference for everyone
who loves and works in fiber. It is the biennial, international conference
sponsored and organized by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc.(HGA), and
hosted by a committee of dedicated fiber enthusiasts. Convergence features
special lectures, workshops and seminars, exhibits, tours, special events, and a
commercial vendor hall full of fibers, , fiber-related equipment and an artist
market. HGA’s Convergence 2010 Albuquerque will be held at Albuquerque
Convention Center, July 18-25, 2010, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Current
HGA members get a special registration rate and learn about each upcoming
Convergence first!
When is Convergence 2010 Albuquerque? Convergence 2010 Albuquerque will be
held July 18-25, 2010, at the Albuquerque Convention Center downtown
Albuquerque. Workshops will run concurrent with the conference.
The following Exhibit Jurors have been announced:
Eye Dazzlers: All Fiber Techniques Wendy Weiss: is a professor of Textiles,
clothing and Design at the U of Nebraska and director of the Robert Hillestad
Textiles Gallery where she has curated exhibits of internationally recognized
artists. She regularly exhibits her collaborative installation work nationally
and internationally.
Enchanted: Yardage Exhibit Stacey Harvey-Brown: weaves, writes, teaches,
lectures and gives workshops and seminars around the UK and abroad. She is
passionate about weaving and loves the challenge to capture the essence and
texture of nature through woven cloth.
Walk in Beauty: Fashion Show & Exhibit Jill Heppenheimer: as co-owner of the
Santa Fe Weaving Gallery, Jill has used her creativity, design acumen and eye
for wearable art as well as her business and marketing savvy to steer a
successful retail business for almost 19 years. Susan Lazear: is a Professor of
Fashion at San Diego Mesa College. With extensive knowledge of fashion design,
including patternmaking, draping, construction, textiles and fashion technology,
she blends industry techniques with the individual wearable art approach to the
creation of clothing. Susan has written numerous books and articles about
fashion and textiles.

Clear your calendar not for July 21-25 and plan to participate in Convergence
by taking a seminar or workshop and/or volunteering to help with one or more of
the many jobs that are required to put on such a big conference. You can be a
part of the Convergence Team! See the exhibits in depth: serve as assistants in
the Exhibit Hall and answer visitors' questions. Meet the vendors: sit in a
booth to give vendors a break. Meet other members of our fiber community: take
tickets and hand out programs at the special events. HGA's Convergence Volunteer
Handbook includes guidelines and more information. There are many areas where
volunteers will be needed before, during and after Convergence. Registration
